Best Apres Ski In Whistler

As a visitor to Whistler Blackcomb ski resort you likely don’t need the definition of “apres-ski”, however we’ve never been considered anything less than thorough, from our kitchen to this here Whistler Village restaurant & hospitality blog. So here goes. Apres-ski (for the uninitiated) is the general concept of socializing over drinks, meals, dancing and at-times hijinks after a long day out on the ski hill. Whistler Blackcomb, as the official number one ski resort in a North America, by default can thus be considered to maintain the best apres-ski scene in the continent.

The entire village has practically evolved to serve as a giant apres-ski venue. Whistler is ripe with bars, cafes, dinning rooms, lounges, nightclubs, patios, and pubs that welcome ski-hill weathered bodies looking for warmth, sustenance, and refreshment in a lively atmosphere. With so many choices it can be hard to pinpoint a scene that best suits your tastes for post-skiing/boarding activities. And that my friends, is where The Mexican Corner comes into play.

Thanksgiving Dinner in Whistler

Thanksgiving in Canada is only one week away. Many of you will be traveling from near and far with friends and family to spend this coming long weekend in Whistler Village. Then there are our american neighbors south of the border. Thanksgiving for you arrives in just over a month. Seeing as Whistler Blackcomb is now officially the number one ski resort in North America we expect an even larger influx (than usual) of U.S. residents to arrive for the holiday in order to escape the Black Friday madness in their respective states. Bottom line, whether you celebrate Thanksgiving in October or November, one of the most popular places in North America to do so is in Whistler BC.

There is however a crux that comes with committing to a resort escape for the Thanksgiving holiday. You and your party are elated by the opportunity to spend a few days in a traveler’s haven yet feel that pull to still recognize the cherished holiday with a symbolic meal. While there will indeed be many local establishments serving a traditional turkey dinner the fact that you chose a recess from the norm means that you don’t exactly crave a hit of tryptophan. Factor in the fact that Christmas arrives soon enough, likely giving you and yours a healthy dose of turkey then, opting out of the big bird this coming Thanksgiving becomes more and more likely. But again, you’re still looking for some sort of token meal for the day of the affair, aren’t you?

This is where our Whistler Village restaurant comes into the equation. First of all, you won’t find a more comforting celebratory environment in the village than within the walls of our establishment. Vibrant yet traditional setting for Thanksgiving? Check! OK, so now comes the time for the good stuff – the food. As the title of this article suggests we are providing you with a twist on the traditional when having Thanksgiving dinner in Whistler. Let’s take a look.

Number One Ski Resort in North America

You may have heard the news already but we’re happy to spread the word farther and wider here within our Whistler Village restaurant blog. Whistler Blackcomb has been named number one ski resort in North America by SKI Magazine.

Within the article our resort is celebrated by readers with statements such as “Nothing else in North America compares.” and “The mountain is an 11- plus… Just more in every way.”. We couldn’t agree with these affirmations more. Whistler received such a prestigious rank for a reaching excellence in a variety of areas. Great service, access and connectivity to slopes, range of terrain and adventures (for varying skill levels), accommodations, restaurants, and amenities all played a part in the end result.

Nachos in Whistler Village

Practically every major restaurant chain and/or bar & grill in a tourism rich region has nachos on the menu. It’s safe to say that nachos have become a North American sensation for casual dining, Whistler Village included. But after over 70 years in existence have nachos as an authentic Mexican dish been diluted since its inception?
