End of Summer August Events in Whistler – Our 5 Recommendations
The summer season is nearing its conclusion yet we are not ready to go quietly into that good night and wave “adios” quite yet. Whistler Village still has plenty on deck for the remaining days of August alone. As a major destination point for dining in Whistler, Mexican Corner staff is often approached by visiting patrons inquiring about things to do “in town” during their stay. Our ever-attentive team is quick to offer tips on activities and attractions, including events, that our guests can enjoy before, after, and in-between meals. In this week’s blog post allow us to serve as your event guide to the enduring days of summer.
5 End of Summer Event Recommendations for Whistler Village – August 2014
1. Whistler Farmer’s Market
We know food and we know artisan wares. So no need to take it with a grain of salt when we suggest checking out the Whistler Farmer’s Market. The market features fresh fruit, produce, sauces, spices, baked goods, wines, craft beers, and artisan crafts. The market runs annually from mid-June to mid-October every Sunday but July and August adds Wednesdays to the calendar. That leaves you with four more Whistler Farmer’s Market affairs to enjoy within August, counting down from today. We hope to see you out there as we wander down from our perch on the second floor of the Sundial Hotel complex..
2. Whistler Outdoor Concert Series
The Whistler Outdoor Concert series has been a blast throughout the entire season and it only gets better as the month of August winds down. The forecast is perfect as this event prepares to welcome in outdoor performances from bands such as The Matinée, Corb Lund, Jarvis Church, Del Barber Band, Messenjah, Headwater, and more. For more information about concert times and line-ups visit the site here.
3. VANS Ramp Series
It’s Whistler BC – action sports central of Canada. In the winter the entire mountain serves as a stadium for those looking to catch the show and tourists flock to town to both participate and admire. However, just because you’re in town during the hot summer months doesn’t mean that you need to miss out on the death defying talents of our resident and visiting boardriders. Skateboarding that is. The Showcase Vans Summer Ramp Series arrives August 20 right around the corner from our Whistler Village restaurant at 4340 Sundial Crescent. Visit the Showcase Facebook Page for more information before joining this fun for all-ages action packed affair.
4. Family Adventure Zone
No need to steal away valuable time from your stay in the area by venturing down the mountain to the PNE when Whistler Village offers access to fun and adventure for your kids all the same. The Family Adventure Zone (by Nintendo) is home to the Westcoast Slide (which zips through the forest!), Mario & Friends Mini-Golf, Hot Wheelz Electric Go-Carts, and much more, all against the incomparable backdrop of Whistler’s mountains. The Family Adventure Zone is found just a quick stroll up from the Village Square, right next to the Chateau Fairmont.
5. Fiesta Hour at The Mexican Corner Restaurant
Every day offers a fiesta for Whistler Village visitors as The Mexican Corner Restaurant delivers Fiesta Hour for all who wander in between the hours of 3 to 6 PM. Our double margaritas are dolled out for only $6 each and Coronas uncapped for just $4, all complemented by our lively atmosphere of music, smiling faces, and bustling table to table conversation. Fiesta Hour at our Whistler Village restaurant is an event in itself. Come on by and see, taste, and sip.
