5 Recommended Christmas Week Events in Whistler Village for 2015
1. Fire & Ice Show @ Skier’s Plaza – All Week (starting Dec 20 6:30 PM)
You’re in the winter action sports capital of North America, so it’s not all hot chocolate and village caroling during the holiday season. Starting tomorrow (December 20) the famed (and flamed!) Whistler Blackcomb Fire & Ice show begins it’s annual Sunday tradition of ski and snowboard stunts as the most fearless local skiers and boarders jump, flip, and spin through a blazing ring of fire. The exhilarating scene is set with fire spinners, a DJ and fireworks display to conclude each and every Sunday (through until March) show.
2. Skate with Santa @ Whistler Olympic Plaza – Dec 20 (3 PM – 5 PM)
Have an all-ages blast navigating the ice rink at Olympic Plaza with special guest St. Nick in attendance. After a few figure-eights you and yours are encouraged to take a photo with Santa while enjoying tasty hot chocolate, baked holiday goods, and browsing locally made crafts. If your kids happen to miss Santa at this event, he returns to town (pre-Christmas Eve, that is) on the 23rd for the annual Santa’s Arrival at Fairmont Chateau Whistler.
3. Made in Whistler Artisan Market Holiday Edition @ The Westin Resort & Spa – Dec 23/24 (12 PM to 6 PM)
It’s tough squeezing in Christmas week fun and shopping at the same time, which is why this event is perfect for accommodating both. Normally taking place on Saturdays, the Made in Whistler Artisan Market has added two additional days this week to meet the demand of holiday shoppers and looky-loos alike. Come early to the Westin Resort & Spa this coming Wednesday and/or Thursday for last-minute gift and stocking goodies. Take your pick of knits, ceramics, arts, crafts, and baked goods as local artisans put their best holiday wares on offer for village guests.
4. A Whistler Christmas @ Maury Young Arts Centre – Dec 21 (7:30 PM)
What better way to celebrate the Christmas season in Whistler than by taking in A Whistler Christmas? This annual performance returns to Maury Young Arts Centre (formerly know as Millennium Place) where by-donation attendees are delighted by the Whistler Singers’ renditions of holiday tunes.
5. Christmas Eve Carol Service @ The Westin Resort & Spa – Dec 24 (6:30 PM)
For those who like to keep the spirit of the season alive, slotting in (by donation) this annual Christmas Eve Carol Service is it. Entering its 31st year, the Westin hosted event delivers guests the unmatched talents of the Whistler Children’s Chorus and Whistler Singers. The Christmas Eve Carol Service is an all-inclusive interdenominational affair featuring traditional carols, choir music, and spiritual readings by members of the community. Peace, goodwill, and Christmas spirit is in full swing at this most essential of holiday events in Whistler.
If you’re looking to add even more holiday fun to your Christmas week in the Village be sure to stop by our most-festive Whistler restaurant for dining, drinks, and all-around cheer. If we don’t see you before, we wish you and yours a VERY Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
Feliz Navidad from the staff at The Mexican Corner Restaurant!
